Government Autumn & Winter COVID Plan: Plan B Certification Proposals & Consultation
The government has published their proposals for a mandated COVID certification scheme for venues and businesses, to be implemented as a ‘Plan B’ to the current Autumn & Winter Plan if case rates rise. The proposals can be found here.
As currently drafted, we believe that theatres will not fall into any mandatory certification regime proposed, although venues continue to be encouraged to run voluntary schemes.
SOLT & UK Theatre will be responding to the call for evidence on these proposals. Should you have any particular concerns that you believe would be worth including in our response please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Should you wish to submit your own response to the call for evidence you can do so here (closes 11 October 2021).
Introductory Roundtable with New DCMS Secretary of State Nadine Dorries MP

Issues around recovery, certification, support for the sector and creative education were discussed, as well as highlighting the Secretary of State’s personal ambition to open up the arts workforce and audiences to people from all backgrounds.
You can see the Secretary of State’s tweet here. We look forward to working with her in her new role.
