Action: PLASA & #WeMakeEvents COVID Recovery Survey
PLASA and #WeMakeEvents have launched a survey to investigate the recovery of the live sector following the Covid-19 pandemic. All types of industry professionals are invited to take the survey, from freelancers and sole traders to manufacturing companies and venues. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday 3 December. You can complete the survey here.

Vaccine Passport Update – Wales and Scotland Only
Members in Wales should be aware that, as of Monday 15 November, it will be a requirement for all audience members aged 16 years or older in Wales to show a NHS Covid Pass (AKA vaccine passport) or evidence of a negative lateral flow test from the last 48hrs to enter a theatre. You can find the latest guidance for your venue here.

In Scotland, the Government is due to review its Covid restrictions on Tuesday (16 November). We are working closely with Federation of Scottish Theatre and others to make representations to Scottish officials to prevent theatres being brought into scope of an expanded Covid Pass system.

If you have any questions or have evidence of these restrictions (or threat of restrictions) impacting your winter bookings, please email christopher@soltukt.co.uk.

Theatre Tax Relief: Eligibility Criteria for Higher Rate of Relief Still Unconfirmed
SOLT & UK Theatre welcomed the increased rates of relief to TTR in the October Budget. We are actively engaged in discussions with HMRC around who will be able to benefit from the higher rate. In a change of understanding from our initial response on budget day, we now understand that only “new” productions will be able to benefit. We have asked for clarity on what exactly the qualifying criteria of a “new” production are and are awaiting detailed guidance. This will be provided in draft form to SOLT & UK Theatre for initial feedback and comment. Once the final guidance is confirmed with HMRC, we will then share the guidance with members and, if necessary, organise a training seminar with HMRC officials.

We are aware that this is a hugely important issue to all members and particularly time-sensitive for productions in the winter season. We appreciate your patience, but if anyone has any questions, please do email david@soltukt.co.uk.
