SOLT membership votes for change to diversify its Board
On Tuesday at an Extraordinary General Meeting, the SOLT membership voted to adopt new Articles of Association which give us more flexibility to improve the diversity of our Board members.
A Committee will be formed to look at recommendations for co-opted Board members after the SOLT AGM which will take place on Wednesday 15 December 2021.
UK Theatre President and Board Elections results
Following yesterday’s AGM, the UK Theatre membership have voted in Jon Gilchrist and Stephanie Sirr as Joint Presidents for the first time in the organisation’s history. They will take up their position after the 2022 AGM. For more information on this news, please visit our news page.
We want to take this opportunity to thank Fiona Allan for being an outstanding UK Theatre President and we look forward to working with Stephanie Sirr who steps up as President due to Fiona’s tenure coming to an end.
We also welcome Eleanor Lang, Executive Director, Theatre Royal Stratford East, who has been voted in as the new Board member in yesterday’s elections.
Share your policies and procedures for dealing with bullying, harassment and discrimination
We have recently updated our Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination Resource Library, and as part of this, we’d like to include a section on example policies, procedures and initiatives. Our consultation work in this area has made clear that organisations can and should help each other. If you have policies and procedures that you would be happy to share with other organisations, please let us know so we can add them to our resource library. These could be respect charters, dignity at work policies, anti-racism codes of practice – anything covering bullying, harassment and discrimination. Please contact Annie Waugh at annie@soltukt.co.uk.
Free Indigo webinar revealing survey results from ‘Missing Audiences’
Indigo are hosting their latest Insights Alliance webinar to share the results of their recent research on Missing Audiences. The results will reveal what is holding some audiences back from returning, how they’re feeling about safety measures in venues and what the current appetite is for digital content. This research was designed to help organisations continue to put audiences at the heart of business planning and communications.
Register to attend the free webinar on Thursday 11 November at 12pm here.

Aqua Shard – Theatre Support Fund Christmas Tree Project
There’s still time to get your cast/creatives to join names such as Emilia Clark and Stockard Channing in signing labels to be attached to brushes which will be featured on Soutra Gilmour’s Christmas tree.
The ‘tree’, made from hundreds of scenic brushes dipped in gold and hung from a golden A frame ladder and lit from bulbs within, will stand proudly at the Shard’s Aqua restaurant this Christmas.
Tree themed desserts, cocktails and the auctioning of the brushes will all raise money for the Theatre Support Fund.
To be featured, please email georgia.lowther@aqua-london.com asap.
