Updates and reports
Email & Google
We are switching away from Wix this afternoon, which will make things cheaper and easier to run and we are no longer tied into.
ACTION POINT:
- Al to switch over the email!
- Anti-racism meeting update (Josie)
VM: Improbable are running a series of anti-racism
ACTION POINT:
- Everyone available next week to fill in the anti-racism group poll.
Essex Uni Research
University of Essex have formed an Impact of Covid on the Performing Arts research group and have made themselves available for any research that we might need/data collection that would be helpful for our work.
PC: We would love to repeat the big freelancer survey. Post-pandemic world. Do they need anything from us? Light touch. A meeting to talk to them about the past big freelancer survey and how we might go about doing another one?
ACTION POINT:
- Josie to respond to UoE and suggest that we would like to repeat the BFS.
Reminder – Brexit meeting tonight 6-7pm
New Members Invitations
AC: What is the ask? A more specific outline of what we will be doing in the future.
PC: Do we cast these specific working focuses out to the wider freelance community
—- (Josie had to step out for a Doctors call!)—
CO: We provide care to freelancers. Intersectionality is one of the reasons we have less people of the global majority. We have equipped buildings and organisations with the language but that doesn’t mean that they actually do the work.
PM: Newsletter idea – Buildings/Orgs; what are you doing for your freelancers?
PC: How do we keep the conversation alive, and how do we turn conversation into action?
VM: The pressure and the expectation that the freelancers will deliver the change is palpable. Where we started from is still where we are – the freelance story needs to be held in sight. ‘Think Out Loud’ space is a great idea.
PC: Build a What Next community?
EJ: We need to focus on action.
CO: Trying to find a modal for invitation that fits everything we are doing – each individual piece of work is an individual invitation.
VM: Groups so far identified – External: Brexit; freelancers finance; small acts campaign; rapid response group; freelance research group; lobbying group. (Internal: freelancers and access; Freelancers and anti-racism)
Otter: https://otter.ai/u/qhzKju0ZW_j2xacEJT9WdGuKluA?f=oln
ACTION POINT:
- Identify a number of groups (5?) find the people who will take a key lead in each group, timeframe for when these meetings happen.
- Call out for anyone in each group to write a small intro/invite to the group. E.g. Brexit group etc (Josie)
- Set up meeting next week to collate invitations and further conversation/action! (Josie)
